Wildcrafting is the practice of ethically harvesting plants directly from their natural, wild, habitat, without the use of greenhouses, insecticides, herbicides, fertilisers, fungicides, soil fumigants, desiccants, harvest aids or plant growth regulators.
Wildcrafted herbs are not cultivated to look or taste a certain way, or have specific characteristics, they are as you would find them, untouched and growing naturally in the wild.
Naturally/organically grown produce will normally adhere to certified organic standards, but without the certification.
This usually means:
- no chemical/artificial pesticides, most of which persist in the food chain;
- no chemical/artificial fertilisers, such as those made from petroleum and other natural gases;
- no chemical/artificial herbicides;
- no preventative spraying;
- only biodegradable pesticides which are broken down by sunlight, air, or water. They are usually made from plant matter, instead of synthetic chemicals.
- only adding organic material, such as manure and compost, to the soil as much as possible; and
- only organic fertilisers which come from plant and animal sources are used.
We are fully transparent with when are herbals are picked, so the years will be included on all our caddies and caddy refill pouches.
All of our herbals are packed within a few weeks of being picked and dried, which means they are all very fresh. Therefore, the year makes absolutely no difference, and due to this freshness the shelf life of our infusions can range up to 5 years (however it does always depends on how well they are stored at their final home).
Years are also very important, as nature and the terroir will vary and provide us with some outstanding years, just like wine. We are in fact working on designating some of our herbals as vintages within the brand.
To ensure our infusions are enjoyed at their best, care must be taken when brewing. We have put together a Brewing Guide and Matrix.
All our infusions are suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
The best-before date on our infusion is an advisory date for when the infusion is at its utmost freshest and best tasting.
Please be informed that this date does not mean the infusion is not usable after this time, as an infusion does not go stale, but rather loses its quality in flavour. Storing an infusion in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and strong odours in air-tight packaging, should help in maintaining its freshness for as long as possible. We do not recommend glass, plastic and paper containers.
I am on medication, have health concerns, pregnant and/or breastfeeding. Can I drink your infusions?
Please always consult a medical professional before drinking our infusion for any health concerns or questions on pregnancy.
Our infusions are extremely rare and are only ever available in extremely limited quantities. Once we run out of stock, we are unable to source a replacement until the next season in which that tea is produced.
We will however, be providing the UK’s order-to-harvest service, where you will be able to pre-order your chosen infusion which will be delivered to you within a couple of months of harvest, ensuring you receive the very freshest infusion.
