Kykeon™ (Traditional)
Using the traditional recipe of roasted spring barley and wild mountain mint, we have resurrected Kykeon, an ancient Greek tisane, for the first time in modern history. In fact, Kykeon, has not been sold for over two thousand years. In ancient Greece, Kykeon was commonly drunk to break fasts and was noted for its digestive properties. Nutty, refreshing and delicately minty, we have carefully sourced and blended our ingredients to ensure each sip has the best flavour and health benefits, encapsulating ancient Greek history and tradition. Learn more about Kykeon here. Select your caddy or pouch below. Scroll down for more information.

Our wild mountain mint is hand harvested from its native habitat in the Lori region of Armenia, by the residents of the village of Odzun, supervised by an ethnobotanist, taking into account the time of day and time of year to keep the aroma and active ingredients at their best. The grassy green leaves are dried in the shade under the ceramic roof of a natural drier to preserve the quality, essential oils and taste. The leaves are then milled slightly by hand to allow greater extraction of essential oils with every infusion.
Naturally grown without the use of any pesticides or chemicals, our roasted spring barley is harvested 1,200 – 1,500m above sea level from the Zangezur Mountains of Armenia. Only the outer husks have been removed (and the barley itself has not been pearled), which means higher nutritional content within each grain. Our spring barley is lightly roasted to bring out the earth, nutty and sweet flavours.
Once in the UK, the ingredients are blended in accordance to our secret award winning recipe.
Kykeon may be drunk hot or ice cold, and may be enjoyed before a meal to aid digestion or during or after exercise for increased hydration.

Just amazing! We serve it at our coffee shop Kanenas in Ealing, London, and everyone simply loves it. So refreshing, unusual, delicious. We do up to three infusions, and every brew tastes so different (in a wonderful way!). Couldn’t recommend enough!
